Dawn's Clinic (Guanacaste)

Welcome to Dawn's Clinic, a not-for-profit organization specializing in the medical care and well being of the small animal population of the villages of western Guanacaste province of Costa Rica.

Dawn Scott and her husband Sid have lived in Costa Rica for about eight years and were saddened by the amount of stray, unhealthy dogs and cats in their community. They began to organize free local clinics in their area where people could bring in their animals to be spayed, neutered and immunized. Dawn also began picking strays up off the street and treating them in her home. Within a short while, it was clear that their work was making a huge difference - people came in search of their clinic services, and there were noticeably less strays in the streets. So, they decided to expand.

Now, with the help of veterinarians who come out from San Jose, Dawn and Sid travel throughout the region setting up spay/neutering clinics to help the animals. All of their work is currently funded through donations and their own personal funds. So far, they have operated on over four thousand animals!  Dawn and Sid are very passionate about what they do and they are making a difference. Not only are they helping control the animal population but they are teaching the local Ticos how to properly care for their animals and keep them healthy.  Read more about what they do in Dawn's word in the Our Story section of our website.
